eTradewinds eT-78 Digital Kitchen Timer: Stainless Steel
The eTradewinds eT-78 is a digital kitchen timer designed for everyday cooking tasks and beyond. Built with stainless steel construction and equipped with a strong magnet for fridge mounting, this timer combines practical features with thoughtful engineering. Whether you're boiling eggs, managing multiple cooking times, or using it for non-kitchen purposes like study sessions or workouts, the eT-78 aims to be a reliable kitchen companion.
Display and Operation
The timer features a large LCD display that's easy to read from across the room, making it simple to check your remaining time without having to step closer. The interface keeps things straightforward: press two left buttons simultaneously to reset, or press and hold for two seconds to fast-forward through numbers. Once set, you can pause and restart the countdown as needed.
The eT-78 counts down from 99 minutes and 59 seconds, or counts up to 99 hours. An auto-memory function stores your last setting, so if you regularly use the same time—such as three minutes for soft-boiled eggs—you only need to press start each subsequent use.
Sound and Mounting Options
The alarm offers three volume levels:
- Loud mode: 80dB+ beep, audible in other rooms
- Soft mode: 72dB+ mellow tone for closer use
- Mute mode: silent operation
The timer includes a powerful neodymium magnet with anti-scratch foam backing, designed to stay secure on refrigerators and metal appliances. The base features stabilizing anchor points on all four corners to prevent wobbling when buttons are pressed. Additionally, the timer includes a new lanyard attachment option and an adjustable kickstand for countertop use.
Practical Features
Battery life is managed through an auto shut-off feature that engages after three minutes of inactivity when the timer is magnetically secured. One AAA battery is included. The design deliberately eliminates button-press beeps that can be annoying during setup, focusing audible feedback only on the alarm itself.
Beyond cooking, the eT-78 can serve as a timer for medical settings, therapy, dental procedures, classroom instruction, workout intervals, or study sessions. The company is USA-based and offers a no-expiration replacement guarantee for component failures in residential use, along with included contact information for support.
